Friday

The week comes to an end and tired as we are, we are sorry to see it over. It has been an amazing time. We have seen God at work in our team and through our team and as we have interacted with the people in Armenia Bonito.

That ditch that was begun yesterday - the foundation for the multi sport complex, which will be 100 feet by 50 feet - is a little further along in development. More digging was done (in the blazing sun) and we completed half of the footing for the foundation. That figures to 150 feet of length, by 2.5 feet deep and 18 inches wide ... 563 cubic feet.....of hard work!

Construction today saw our team finishing our work on Argentina's home. Our team laid 500 concrete blocks and it is now ready for the next team to come put in the floor and perhaps another to put the roof on. Some of us may never see it finished... but some will and so can you, if you start planning now to join Faith's Honduras Team 2011.

We are thankful for all you who have supported us and prayed for us. Both have been essential to our work here and we feel priviledged to be the ones to be "sent".

We will head out of here at 3:30AM and should arrive home on Delta 1118 at 9:17PM - tired bodies, sunburn faces and joyful hearts. (:

Thursday

Thursday....Heat Index 102.2 Humidity 83% - We keep saying it is hot and it is! But we are tough, in spite of the heat we are on our way to finishing the concrete block work on Argentina's house. We have laid over 300 blocks at present. A few more to go tomorrow and we will declare our work here done! Some of our team spent the morning seating and digging a three foot deep ditch, 18 inches wide. They did about 60 or 70 feet of this project. This will be the foundation for the sports complex that Team Honduras is building. We were delighted to be a part of this effort, but it was not an easy task. We have come to realize that heat here is much greater than in SC and very hard to prepare for. But as a whole, we have handled it well.

This afternoon, we helped with the Medical Clinic Erin runs every week. Saw about 45 patients. Also this afternoon, Jonathan presented a seminar to the local leaders/pastors on Scriptural Growth and Maturity. We were quite pleased that 26 people attended this event.

A little more swimming in the river was done by some and then it was out to dinner at a local restaurant, home for showers and relaxation and now we are facing our last day here. The time has gone by swiftly and i believe that most of us will be sorry to see the time end. It has been good! See you soon.

Wednesday

If we thought yesterday was hot, today was MUCHO CALOR (that means VERY HOT!!!) In spite of the heat, we made good process on the block walls of Argentina's house. We're getting pretty proficient at making mortar and slinging block and drinking lots of water. We had a special treat for lunch. We were invited to Teresa's house for a home cooked meal...really home cooked in her outdoor kitchen. We had the privilege of helping her make tortillas, however, hers were round and ours were of various shapes and sizes. Teresa and a jovial time watching the gringas. She used the tortillas to make baleadas for us. THEN it was off to the river! Check the pictures of all the kids in the truck. That was only one load! The water was delightfully cool and we had a great time. Charlie and Jonathan had to keep up with Sarah and Sarah by jumping off the rocks into the river. Dinner and counting pills for tomorrow's medical clinic took up the evening and a game of rummy is now in progress at 8:20, though some of us are headed to bed. Goodnight!

Monday

Everyone was up on time :) we began construction on Argentina's house at 8am and worked until 12. The sun came out today-hot!! The heat index was easily 100 by 10am. Have you ever made your own concrete? We have. Santos Mungia, the president of Amenia Bonito, and experienced construction professional tutored us in the art of laying Honduran bloce'. (block) The ladies were awesome and of course did most of the work! The men SWEATED heavily, but the ladies only glistened. Did you know that glisten actually drips.
The afternoon was filled with good fellowship, cold pepsi, and hands on, one on one, teaching of English as a second language to 15 kids.
All in all a great day was concluded with dinner at the Clows with homemade tortillas and a killer key lime pie.
